Whitewater Rafting Across the United States

     Whitewater rafting is an outdoor activity done all across the United States spanning from California to North Carolina! With numerous rafting companies located nationwide, there is a weekend adventure close to you. Whether you're a beginner or pro, you should be sure to check out the locations below for some of the best whitewater rafting in the states.
East Coast
      West Virginia - The Gauley River in West Virginia is known worldwide for its white water rafting. Its enthusiasts love the high waves and steep drops, which result from its annual water release of the Summersville Dam. While this may seem intimidating, there are adventures appropriate for all levels with rapids ranging in class from 1 to 5, 1 being the least amount of skill needed.
     Maine - Ready to be in a wilderness adventure? Rafting the Kennebec River is sure to be one of scenic beauty. Located in the state park region, the Kennebec River has consistent flows due to its Dam releases, making every trip April to October wildly exhilarating.
North Carolina - The Nantahala River located in North Carolina is in the middle of the Nantahala National Park and border the Smoky Mountains National Park. This is an adventure full of scenic views and is appropriate for beginner rafters. On the other hand expert thrill seekers might want to look into North Carolina's Cheoah River for its challenging flows.
Midwest

West Coast

Here you will not only experience the thrill of the ride but will witness waterfalls, canyon gems and Indian ruins.
     California- Northern Californian's must take the opportunity to river raft through the American River originating in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Known for its three forks, the American River is has many personalities. If you are located in Southern California, be sure to check out the Kern River which flows through the Sequoia National Forest.
